Standard 2a
As leaders in the division of student affairs, one of our shared visions is to make students aware of on campus services that may aid them through their academic journey. By sharing this tool with my colleagues and showing them how I make veterans aware of on campus resources, it can help them to share resources with their students as well. I also use this as part of my digital welcome kit to incoming student veterans. It takes a while to become accustomed to campus resources and I would prefer that student veterans know what is available to them before it becomes too late.
Standard 2b
Surprisingly few of my colleagues in education seemed to know much about screencasting. When macOS Mohave came out and it had a native screen capturing tool, I decided to make a video tutorial so that they too can use screencasts to help with their work. Screencasting is a great way to give a tutorial or deliver content in online classes and now that my colleagues have been shown how to do it, hopefully they can incorporate it into their practices.
Standard 2c
I created this page for staff, students, agencies, and community members to post resources that can be valuable for current student veterans. My aim is for this page to serve as a collaborative curation tool to aid veterans, particularly student veterans, in and around the greater campus footprint. I am planning on including this into my digital welcome kit for student veterans next year so they will know some resources that are available to them. I believe that if I put an easy to use curation tool out there year after year, more and more people will contribute to it and it will become a fairly robust and comprehensive list.
